Researchers in The country have developed a program they say can significantly enhance the precision of car sat-navs.
It brings together a traditional gps (GPS) indication with those of other receptors - accelerometers and gyroscopes - to determine a vehicle's place to within 2m (6ft 6in).
It can be at low costs set up in any car and may gradually perform on cellular phones, the researchers say.
Such a program has the prospective to help the growing driverless car market.
The program was mutually developed and developed by the Used Synthetic Intellect Team and the Techniques Intellect Clinical - both centered at Carlos III University in The city (UC3M).
"We have handled to enhance the dedication of a car place in crucial situations by between 50 and 90%," said specialist Bob Martin.
According to the researchers, the edge of mistake of professional GPS used in automobiles is about 15m in an start area, where the recipient has good exposure from the satellite.
However, in places where the indication bounces off structures and plants, the computation of a car place can be off by more than 50m.
In certain situations, such as in channels, interaction is missing absolutely.
At that point, the program goes back to basically wondering the place. While this may be adequate for in-car systems, it would not be appropriate for computerized automobiles, which are currently being developed by companies Search engines.
"Cars are becoming progressively linked," said Prof Bob Bailey from the Coventry University Business school.
"There is a lot of analysis into driverless automobiles and, for that, GPS needs to be as precise as possible," he included.
The program developed in The city creates use of a device consists of three accelerometers and three gyroscopes, which keep a record of the rate and route of a automobile at all times.
The information from these is along with that from a traditional GPS device to determine a place of a car to within 2m in places.
Using smartphones
The next phase for the Language researchers is to create a program that can perform with cellular phones.
Most are prepared with a variety of receptors, such as an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a magnetometer, GPS and cameras, moreover to wi-fi, Wireless and GSM devices.
"We are now beginning to perform on the incorporation of this information combination program into a cellular phone," said specialist Enrique Marti.
"It can include all of the dimensions that come from its receptors in order to acquire the same outcome that we have now, but at an even much cheaper, since it is something that almost everyone can bring around in their wallet."
